The temperature screening system trusted by 15 Canadian airports is now available to protect your workplace
In response to the coronavirus pandemic, many organizations have deployed thermal cameras as a pre-screening tool to prevent the spread of the virus. Elevated skin temperature (EST) can be an indicator of a fever, the primary symptom of COVID-19. OARO’s automated EST detection system does not diagnose COVID-19 or replace assessment by a medical professional. The system is intended for preliminary screening with a high throughput capacity.
Most EST solutions available in the market today either rely on an operator. If the operator fails to correctly adjust for ambient temperature calibration, focus, distance to target, and other factors, then even the most accurate thermal camera cannot produce accurate testing outcomes. In other words, the accuracy of EST as a screening tool is not equivalent to the absolute accuracy of the thermal camera used. OARO ACCESS with EST detection uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to fully automate thermal camera screening and physical access control. This includes the ISO recommend best practice of taking skin temperatures from the subject’s tear ducts. OARO’s system is compliant with ISO/TR 13154:2017(E) and our thermal cameras are approved by the FDA and Health Canada.

Access Control with Biometric Authentication
OARO ACCESS® is a state-of-the-art physical access control system combining the security of blockchain-based cryptography with the seamless user experience of facial recognition authentication. When facial recognition detects an authorized user, OARO ACCESS® sends a signal to an electronic gate or door lock to open. OARO maintains an immutable log of all authorized and unsuccessful attempts to enter secure areas.
OARO’s products can be combined to provide a comprehensive solution to meet almost any operational requirement.

Mandatory Temperature Checks at 15 Canadian Airports
On June 12th, 2020, the Government of Canada announced it would require temperature screenings for all international and domestic air travellers and airport employees accessing restricted areas. The announcement called for thermal camera systems to be deployed at Canadian airports in two phases with the largest four airports (Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto, Calgary) commencing screening in late July, followed by the next 11 busiest airports (St. John’s, Halifax, Québec City, Ottawa, Toronto – Billy Bishop, Winnipeg, Regina, Saskatoon, Edmonton, Kelowna, Victoria) in September 2020.
OARO was selected by CATSA as the vendor of choice and successfully delivered and deployed over 100 screening systems within the government’s mandated timeframe. Each system includes a FLIR Systems A700 thermal camera and advanced Artificial Intelligence screening software customized for the client’s requirements.
